
RODEO — A shooting Saturday night killed a person, authorities said.
The person died at the scene and was not identified by authorities Monday morning, pending a completion of autopsy and notification of relatives. The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office is investigating, and has not announced any arrests.
Sheriff’s office deputies were called to this unincorporated city in Contra Costa County about 10:35 p.m. and an original call of suspicious circumstances in the 100 block of Rodeo Avenue, according to a statement from agency spokesperson Jimmy Lee.
About the same time, the sheriff’s office received several other calls about a shooting in the area.

Lee said deputies arrived to find a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Fire paramedics also responded and worked on the person at the scene to no avail.
The sheriff’s office did not state a motive or share any information on suspects. This is the second homicide the agency has investigated in 2023.
