Picturing Coyote Valley

The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is holding its first Coyote Valley photo contest. As a part of the in-progress Coyote Valley Conservation Area Master Plan (CVCAMP) the authority is looking for photos that reveal the unique aspects of the conservation landscape’s open spaces and capture the diversity of the natural and rural landscape.

Images must be taken on publicly owned or managed land within the Coyote Valley Conservation Program Area. Photos may also be taken from publicly accessible locations that offer views of Coyote Valley.

The parks and preserves open to the public daily within the Coyote Valley Conservation Program Area are the Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve, Máyyan ‘Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve and the Coyote Valley segment of Coyote Creek Parkway, from Metcalf Road to Cochrane Road.

Photo contest winners will receive a $100 gift card to REI and have their photos featured with credit in upcoming open space authority publications.

Contest categories include, wildlife, plant life, landscape,  agriculture, people in nature and an aspiring photographers category for K-12 students. The public will choose a People’s Choice Award winner in each category.

Photo submissions must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on July 22. For more information and to enter, visit https://news.openspaceauthority.org/coyote-valley-photo-contest.
