Marley Alcantara, Pittsburg, 5-10, 180, junior
Playing behind four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada didn’t stop Alcantara from passing for 14 touchdowns and rushing for three more last season. Threw for five TDs in a 49-21 victory over Antioch in the Big Little Game.
Sully Bailey, Acalanes, 6-1, 185, senior
The first half of Acalanes’ dynamic quarterbacking duo. Passed for 1,832 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for three TDs.
Luke Baker, San Ramon Valley, 5-11, 185, senior
Named Bay Area News Group player of the year after passing for 3,733 yards and 46 touchdowns as the Wolves reached the 2-A state title game. Committed to Santa Clara to play baseball. The shortstop showed off his quick feet by rushing for five TDs.
Reid Black, The King’s Academy, 5-10, 180, junior
Was extremely efficient as a sophomore, passing for 21 touchdowns on 202 attempts while adding five rushing TDs as a scrambling threat. Will form a dynamic backfield with preseason all-BANG RB Jeaden Underwood.
Jake Boselli, Acalanes, 6-0, 185, senior
The other half of Acalanes’ strong quarterbacking pair. Passed for 1,126 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for four TDs.
Quinn Boyd, Granada, 6-4, 195, senior
Passed for 1,758 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Matadors, while only throwing four interceptions. Also rushed for three touchdowns.
Jonathan Craft, James Logan, 6-2, 180, junior
The transfer from Valley Christian will be a solid dual threat for James Logan. Passed for a touchdown and rushed for two more as a sophomore.
Toa Faavae, De La Salle, 6-1, 185, junior
Took over De La Salle’s starting QB job midway through the season and never looked back, rushing for 645 yards and passing for 847. One of the fastest players in the Bay Area. Rushed for 11 touchdowns, including an 88-yarder in the 1-AA state title game vs. Lincoln-San Diego.
Aaron Knapp, St. Francis, 6-1, 195, junior
Went 2-0 last season filling in for injured starter Matthew Daugherty, including a 12-for-14, 208-yard debut in a victory over rival Bellarmine. Threw for three touchdowns in a win over Archbishop Mitty. Beat cancer in the spring and is primed to lead Lancers this fall.
Drew Henderson, Berkeley, 6-0, 170, senior
First-team all-WACC Mission Division selection who passed for 38 touchdowns and rushed for two more. Primed for another great season with three-star recruits Jalen Harris and BJ Thurman back and ready to catch passes.
Soren Hummel, St. Ignatius, 6-0, 195, junior
Second-team all-WCAL selection threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns against St. Francis last season. Passed for three touchdowns in an upset over CCS Division I finalist Archbishop Mitty.
Andre Latimore, Del Mar, 5-8, 160, senior
BVAL West Valley junior of the year and triggerman of Del Mar’s clinical option attack rushed for 1,807 yards and 20 touchdowns. Also kept defenses honest by passing for 474 yards and seven touchdowns.
Mason Lovett, Clayton Valley Charter, 6-0, 180, senior
A three-star recruit, with offers from UNLV and North Alabama, has patiently waited his turn behind senior QBs for the last two seasons. Passed for 225 yards and one touchdown and ran for 129 yards as a backup last season.

Larenzo Mayfield, Antioch, 5-8, 160, senior
Honorable mention all-Bay Valley selection was the true definition of a dual threat for Antioch. Passed for 756 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 778 yards and seven TDs.
AJ Minyard, Los Gatos, 6-3, 160, senior
A standout pitcher on the baseball team is in line to have a big senior season on the football field after backing up Jake Boyd last season. Completed 13 of 20 passes and threw a touchdown as a junior. Passed for 19 TDs on the JV team as a sophomore.
Michael Mitchell Jr, Archbishop Riordan, 5-11, 160, sophomore
WCAL freshman of the year threw for 12 touchdowns and could double or even triple that total in 2023. Has a completely-revamped WR room and offensive line loaded with highly-touted recruits.
Maealiuaki Smith, Serra, 6-4, 200, senior
WCAL quarterback of the year passed for 2,546 yards and 34 touchdowns for the CCS Open Division champions. Four-star recruit has offers from BYU, Oklahoma State and around 20 other P5 schools.
Parker Threatt, Bellarmine, 6-2, 175, senior
A three-star athlete and second-team all-WCAL selection who has interest from Cal and Washington. Did everything for Bellarmine last season. Passed for 558 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 301 yards and one TD. Also caught 28 passes for 301 yards and four TDs.
Michael Vanhook, El Cerrito, 6-0, 210, senior
First-team all-TCAL Rock Division helped lead El Cerrito to a NorCal 3-AA title game. Should put up great statistics with playmakers such as A’Jhuan Parker and Micah Avery on the roster.
James Voorhies, College Park, 6-3, 190, senior
First-team all-DAL Valley selection threw for 2,042 yards and 23 touchdowns as a junior. Led the Falcons to the NCS Division III playoffs.
