The assault, which was called in by the victim’s father, reportedly took place at the suspect’s residence on Holland Street Thursday night. 

San Mateo Police announced Saturday the arrest of a 43-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

The alleged assault, which was reported by the victim’s father, reportedly took place at the suspect’s residence on Holland Street Thursday night.

According to San Mateo Police, officers responded to the residence at 11:12 p.m. Thursday soon after receiving the report.

When officers arrived, the suspect had already left the scene, police said. After ensuring the safety of the victim, officers began a search for the suspect that lasted into the following morning.

The suspect was ultimately discovered in the backyard of a house less than a quarter mile away at 7:40 a.m. on Friday, when he was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail. He is being charged with statutory rape and contacting a minor to commit a felony.

According to the father, the suspect knew the family and the young woman.
