BELMONT — A person died Monday night after they were struck by a Caltrain approaching Belmont station, according to the commuter rail line.
The collision was reported at 11:10 p.m. The struck individual was still breathing after the northbound train came to a stop and emergency personnel arrived at the scene, but the death was confirmed by 11:37 p.m.
There were 13 passengers aboard the train when the collision occurred. No other injuries were reported.

The death is Caltrain’s ninth of 2023. The eighth was on Aug. 9 in nearby Redwood City. Monday’s death was also the third of August.
