Officers responded to reports of a collision at about 9:28 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Landess and Morrill avenues near Interstate 680.

SAN JOSE — A driver hit and killed a man walking through an intersection Thursday night at the city limits between San Jose and Milpitas, according to authorities.

Officers responded to reports of a collision at about 9:28 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Landess and Morrill avenues near Interstate 680. A man driving a 2007 Lexus sedan eastbound on Landess was crossing through the intersection of Morrill at a green light, police said, when he struck a man who was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The Lexus driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The incident resulted in the 32nd traffic-related death and 18th pedestrian death of 2023.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after notification of their next of kin.
