Friends book sale

The Friends of the Milpitas Library are holding a book sale Sept. 7-10. Proceeds will go toward library programs and services.

Thursday, Sept. 7, is members only night from 5-8:30 p.m. A valid Friends membership card is required for entry; memberships can also be purchased at the door.

The sale is open to the public Sept. 8-10, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. all three days.

Sunday, Sept. 10, is bargain day,  when a paper grocery bag full of books and media goes for $5. Otherwise, books are $1.50 per inch; music and software CDs are four for $1; audio books, DVDs, VCDs and BluRay discs are $2 each; and software and games are $1 each or as marked.

Greek Food Festival

The 16th annual Milpitas Middle Eastern and Greek Food Festival is set for Sept. 15-17 at St. James Orthodox Church, 195 N. Main St.

The festival mixes Middle Eastern and Greek culture with games, live music and dancing and most importantly, barbecue and Mediterranean cuisine. There will also be a raffle.

Chamber awards gala

The Milpitas Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 2023 Awards Gala Sept. 22 to honor the businessperson, corporate citizen, nonprofit, Chamber ambassador, citizen, police officer and firefighter of the year.

The gala is set for 5 p.m. at the Embassy Suites, 901 E. Calaveras Blvd. Early bird tickets are $125; after Sept. 15, ticket prices increase to $150. For tickets, visit milpitaschamber.com or call 408-262-2613.
