DUBLIN — The California Highway Patrol is seeking more witnesses to a two-car crash on an East Bay freeway that killed a person early Sunday.

The wreck happened about 2:35 a.m. on the right shoulder of westbound Interstate 580 east of Eden Canyon Road.

According to the CHP, a white 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer veered onto the right shoulder and hit a 2021 Ford E-Transit van. The CHP said the van’s driver was outside the vehicle and hit by the Trailblazer.

The person died at the scene. Authorities did not have the person’s identity available Tuesday.

The CHP is trying to find out what happened in the moments leading up to the crash, as well as seeking more details on the crash itself. The agency asked those with information to contact their Dublin office at 925-828-0466.
