The city’s 25th homicide of the year happened Saturday night near Donnington Drive and Lockhaven Way, police said.

SAN JOSE – A man was arrested on suspicion of killing his father over the weekend in San Jose, police said.

Officers were called to the area of Donnington Drive and Lockhaven Way just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday for a report of a fight involving a father and his adult son, according to the San Jose Police Department. They arrived to find the father unresponsive.

Police said the father was pronounced dead at a hospital. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity once it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.

The death marked the 25th homicide of the year in the city. At this time last year, police had investigated 26 killings.

The son, who remained at the scene, was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail on a charge of murder, according to police. He was not immediately identified.

Police said the motive and circumstances surrounding the killing are under investigation.
