The incident happened Saturday at the San Francisco International Pen Show in Millbrae.

MILLBRAE – A 72-year-old Pleasanton man was arrested on suspicion of stealing thousands of dollars worth of pens at the San Francisco International Pen Show last week in Millbrae, authorities said.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m., on Saturday at the Westin Hotel, located at 1 Old Bayshore Highway, San Mateo County sheriff’s Sgt. Gaby Chaghouri said in a news release.

The hotel at the time was hosting the show, which features hundreds of vendors from around the world. Attendees can buy, sell and trade vintage and collectible pens.

Chaghouri said the suspect walked through the show and stole more than $5,000 worth of pens and accessories before he was caught by staff members and vendors.

The suspect was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on a grand theft charge.
