A man died after an early morning shooting in downtown Oakland on Thursday, police said.

OAKLAND — An early-morning shooting in downtown Oakland left a man dead on Thursday, according to authorities.

The man was shot at 4:59 a.m. on the 100 block of Embarcadero West. He was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.

The man killed was not publicly identified, pending confirmation and notification of Police did not release any information about possible suspects.

The homicide was Oakland’s 82nd of 2023. There were 85 at this time of last year.
