The shooting happened about 9:40 p.m. Thursday, Hayward police Officer Cassondra Fovel said.

HAYWARD — A person died Wednesday night after being shot by Hayward police, a spokesperson for the department said Thursday.

Hayward police Ofc. Cassondra Fovel said the shooting happened about 9:40 p.m. and confirmed it was a fatal shooting.

Fovel said the shooting happened off City Center Drive. She did not release any other information, such as how many officers fired or what led to the gunfire.
