Kurtz, a sophomore, scored six goals and had two assists in a close 17-16 victory over Livermore

Moreau Catholic water polo player Nola Kurtz is the Bay Area News Group’s high school girls athlete of the week for Aug. 28 to Sept. 2 after she received 32.39% of the vote at the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.

Menlo-Atherton volleyball player Meki Maile (30.64%) placed second and Carondelet volleyball player Alexis Dwinell was third.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Kurtz, a sophomore, scored six goals and had two assists in a close 17-16 victory over Livermore. She had scored 16 goals and nine assists in the first four games of the season.
