An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 was recorded Friday morning in Shasta County, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake, at 10:24 a.m., was centered about 7 miles northeast of the town of Burney.
The USGS Did You Feel It? website got more than 600 responses from southern Oregon to Chico, including more than 200 from Redding.
It was the strongest quake in Northern California since a 5.2 at Lake Almanor on May 11.
In Southern California, a 5.1 was recorded near Ojai on Aug. 20.
