The suspect refused to get out of the vehicle but finally surrendered after one and a half hours, authorities said.

HAYWARD – Authorities on Friday arrested a woman in connection with a carjacking at Garin Regional Park in Hayward.

The carjacking happened around 4:15 p.m. Monday at the park, located at 1320 Garin Ave., the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department said in a statement.

Around 11:40 a.m. Friday, San Leandro police officers and Alameda County sheriff’s deputies found the car parked in front of the ARCO gas station at 712 Lewelling Blvd. in San Leandro. A woman was seated in the driver’s seat of the car.

Police said the woman refused to leave the car.

Park district police officers and a helicopter crew provided assistance during the negotiations, police said.

Police say they’ve solved the mystery of who killed East Bay woman and dumped her body along the shore

After an hour and a half, the woman got out and was taken into custody, police said. She received medical aid at the scene and was later booked into Santa Rita Jail.
