Weekend highlights include emotional triumph for Mountain View, De La Salle turning back St. Francis and Monte Vista holding off Bellarmine.

Mountain View won for the first time since the mother of one of its players died late last month just days after she collapsed at a game.

De La Salle won at St. Francis to avoid its first 0-3 start since 1975. Monte Vista held off Bellarmine in one of the weekend’s most thrilling games.

Los Gatos, in a game scheduled at the last minute, lost a nail-biter at home to Sacramento powerhouse Grant, and McClymonds dominated Bishop O’Dowd in a matchup of Oakland schools.
