Not even a 30-minute weather delay could slow down San Jose State on Saturday.

SAN JOSE — Chevan Cordeiro threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns Saturday to lead San Jose State to its first win of the season, a 59-3 rout of Cal Poly at Spartan Stadium.

Kairee Robinson rushed for 124 yards and scored two touchdowns.

The Spartans got off to a quick start as they scored 38 points in the first half. Running back Quali Conley scored twice in the first quarter on a pair of 10-yard touchdown rushes.

With 13 minutes left in the second quarter, the game went into a weather delay due to lightning. Play was stopped for 45 minutes.

Rare Sunday game will get San Jose State back on CBS for first time in 41 years

SJSU scored 21 second-half points behind two rushing touchdowns from Robinson while the defense shut out Cal Poly. The Spartans’ defense allowed just 169 yards of total offense from the Mustangs and forced three turnovers.

SJSU has now won four straight games against Cal Poly.

The Spartans’ next game is Sept. 16 at Toledo, the reigning Mid-American Conference champion and a 71-3 winner Saturday against Texas Southern.
